Brian Walshe charged with murder of missing Cohasset, Massachusetts, woman Ana Walshe
Mother of three from Cohasset not seen since New Year’s Day
The husband of a missing Cohasset, Massachusetts, mother has been charged with her murder, according to the Norfolk, Massachusetts, District Attorney. As the search was entering its third week, Quincy District Court issued a murder warrant in the death of Ana Walshe, 39, who had not been seen since New Year’s Day. Her husband, Brian Walshe, 47, who is now facing a murder charge, was already held on $500,000 bail on accusations he misled investigators. They said he allegedly lied about buying $450 dollars worth of cleaning supplies. “The continued investigation has now allowed police to obtain an arrest warrant charging Brian Walshe with the murder of his wife,” said Michael Morrissey, Norfolk District Attorney.Potential pieces of evidence in the case have been discovered since her disappearance, including with prosecutors called a bloody knife found in the basement of the home. In addition, investigators found a rug with blood on it and a hacksaw during a search of a trash transfer station in Peabody, Massachusetts, sources told our sister station WCVB. “Additional details of the investigation and the evidence in support of those charges are likely to be presented at an arraignment but will not be disclosed at this time,” Morrissey said. Late last week, an August 2014 police report from Washington, D.C., came to light. In it, Ana Knipp, the now-deceased woman’s maiden name at the time, told the Metropolitan Police Department that Brian Walshe “made a statement over the telephone that he was going to kill and her friend.” The report did not specifically name Brian Walshe but police confirmed to WCVB that he is linked to the complaint.Neighbors and friends are doing what they can to support the couple’s three young boys. One even filled out an application with the Department of Children and Families to care for the kids. The boys – 6, 4 and 2 – are in state custody.”It’s a horrible thing to think to think that you would jump to find out someone was arrested but that is the harsh reality, you know, Ana deserves justice,” Natasha Babushkina, a friend of Ana Walshe, told WCVB. There are still unanswered questions about the motive and where Ana Walshe’s body may be. Brian Walshe was already on home confinement before Ana Walshe’s disappearance while awaiting sentencing in a fraud case that involved the sale of fake Andy Warhol paintings. Police said Ana Walshe’s disappearance and her husband’s art case, at this point, don’t appear to be related.Brian Walshe is scheduled to be arraigned at Quincy District Court Wednesday for the murder charge.
